FlexGuard glassbreak detectors are based on a technology that
detects a glassbreak event by listening for the acoustical data
generated when glass is broken.
When glass breaks, it produces two distinct sounds:
1. The flex; a low frequency sound generated by a blow to the glass.
2. The audio; a high frequency sound generated by the breaking glass.
FlexGuard detectors use dual channel technology for improved false
alarm immunity. An alarm is generated only when a low frequency
‘flex’ signal is followed within a 200 ms time-window by a high
frequency ‘audio’ signal. Both signals must have valid amplitude,
duration and frequency characteristics.

Based on the extended flex/audio principle of dual technology
sensing, but with far more signal processing using an on board
microcontroller. The FG-1000 series glassbreak detectors apply
Digital Signal Processing using an on board microcontroller to
instantly digitise sounds into mathematic sequences, distinguishing
common false alarms from breaking glass. The advantage of Digital
Signal Processing (DSP) makes these unique ‘intelligent’ detectors
more computer than detector.
